Kathleen Barrett (no relation – and her name is spelled differently) @kathleenbarret – was the first president of the IIBA, moving on just last year. She contributed a very important chapter to our book The BA Book of Mentors – called “Solve the Right Problem by Understanding the Big Picture”. Right from the start, the IIBA took the view that BAs need to see the big picture in order to add true value to their role within any environment. The inclusion of the chapter ‘Enterprise Analysis’ within the BABOK was a clear indicator of their view. They certainly got it right.
This chapter by Kathleen Barrett is worth the read.
